Multiplying 2 digit numbers with 2 digit numbers

Maths - Multiplying 1 digit and 2 digit numbers

The Octopuses have been teaching the Starfish to multiply 2 digit numbers using a strategy that we called 'Molly the multiplier'

We split numbers into parts.
46 x 8 =
46 Becomes 40 and 6.
Then we multiply 40 x 8= and 6 x 8 =
And we add the two answers together  320 + 48 =

diagram of problem.

See Sybil, Micah, Deasy and Rudra using Molly the multiplier.

Miss A even makes a mistake. Lucky for her, Room 4 are super brainy learners!

Comparing texts

To help us understand how to write an information report, we compared different information reports to narratives and recounts.

In small groups, we discussed and made a list of the key features of information reports.

Next, as a whole class, we constructed a Report Writing Checklist in which we can use to remind us of how to write totally brilliant information reports.

See our checklist and the photos of us comparing information reports to narrative texts.
